Bring the Whole Entertainment Space Together

A great entertainment setup is about more than mounting a television on the wall.

The screen, speakers, lighting, power, networking, storage and room layout all affect how the finished space looks and how easy it is to use.

At Calico, we can bring those elements together as one project, combining technology with electrical work, carpentry and finishing so the system feels like part of the room rather than a collection of equipment added afterwards.

Plan It Before the Walls Are Finished

The Best Media Installations Start Behind the Surface

Sockets, network cables, speaker wiring and equipment connections are much easier to integrate neatly when they are planned before a room is finished.

During a renovation, extension or new media-wall project, cable routes and electrical supplies can often be concealed within the structure rather than relying on visible trunking afterwards.

Calico can coordinate the electrical, carpentry and finishing work around the system so the technology and room are designed together.

Technology That Fits the Room

Start With How You Want to Use the Space

A room used mainly for watching films may need something very different from a family living room or a space designed around gaming and music.

Screen Position

Viewing distance, seating position, windows and room layout all influence the best place for the main display.

Audio

Speaker positions should work with the listening area and furniture rather than simply fit wherever there is wall space.

Power

Televisions, consoles, amplifiers, streaming equipment and lighting all need appropriate supplies in the right places.

Networking

Reliable connectivity can be important for streaming, gaming, smart devices and other connected equipment.

Storage

Consoles, remotes, controllers, media, speakers and equipment can be integrated into bespoke cabinetry.

Lighting

Ambient and feature lighting can transform the atmosphere of a media wall or entertainment room.

Our Approach

From Equipment List to Finished Room

We start by understanding what you use, what you want to achieve and how the room needs to work before planning the installation around it.

01

02

Screen position, cabinetry, power, networking, lighting and cable routes are considered together.

03

04

Install & Finish

The equipment is positioned and the surrounding cabinetry, decoration and finishing details bring the room together.

Transformation

Turn a Blank Wall Into the Focus of the Room

A carefully planned media system can turn an ordinary wall into a cleaner, more useful and more visually considered part of the room.

The Details Matter

Hide the Clutter. Keep the Experience.

The best entertainment spaces make the technology easy to use without allowing cables, sockets and equipment to dominate the room.

Cable Management Power, HDMI, network and speaker cables can be planned into the installation to reduce visible wiring.
Equipment Ventilation Amplifiers, consoles and other equipment may generate heat, so enclosed storage needs suitable ventilation.
Electrical Planning Sockets and supplies can be positioned behind or within cabinetry where appropriate.
Networking Hard-wired network connections can be considered where reliable connectivity is important.
Bespoke Cabinetry Storage can be built around the equipment rather than expecting the equipment to fit standard furniture.
Integrated Lighting Feature and ambient lighting can be incorporated into media walls, shelving and surrounding architecture.

Why Calico?

Technology, Carpentry & Finishing in One Project

Media installations often sit between several different trades. The television installer may not build the cabinetry, the carpenter may not plan the cabling and the electrician may not know how the finished wall is intended to look.

Calico's full-service approach allows those elements to be considered together.

We can coordinate the appropriate specialists while keeping the finished room in view, so the technology supports the design rather than fighting against it.

Questions & Answers

Media & Entertainment FAQs

Can you build a complete media wall?

Yes. A media wall can include television mounting, bespoke cabinetry, shelving, lighting, electrical supplies, cable routes and storage depending on the design and equipment being used.

Can you hide all of the television cables?

Where the construction and room allow, cable routes can be planned within walls, cabinetry or dedicated service spaces to reduce visible wiring.

Can you install a home cinema room?

Yes. We can coordinate the room layout, display position, speakers, lighting, power, cabling and surrounding building or finishing work required for a home cinema space.

Can you install speakers into walls or ceilings?

Potentially, yes. Speaker type, location, cabling, access and the construction of the room need to be considered before deciding on the appropriate installation.

Can you build storage around my TV and equipment?

Yes. Our carpentry background means cabinetry can be designed around the television, consoles, speakers, amplifiers and other equipment rather than being restricted to standard media furniture.

Can you add LED or feature lighting?

Yes. Feature lighting can be incorporated into shelving, cabinetry and media-wall details alongside the wider electrical installation.

Can you provide network connections for streaming and gaming?

Yes. Network requirements can be considered as part of the project where hard-wired connectivity or additional infrastructure would improve the finished setup.

Can you create a gaming room as well as a cinema room?

Yes. Entertainment spaces can be designed around gaming, television, films, music or a combination of several different uses.

Can I supply my own television and equipment?

Yes. If you already own or have chosen the equipment, we can plan the surrounding room, power, cabinetry and cable routes around it. If the equipment has not yet been selected, we can discuss what the room needs to accommodate.

Is it better to plan a media system during a renovation?

Often, yes. When walls and ceilings are already being altered, there are usually more opportunities to position power, network and speaker cabling neatly before the finished surfaces are completed.
