Bathroom Flooring Needs the Right Preparation
Bathroom flooring has to do more than look good. The finished surface needs to suit a moisture-prone room, work with the fittings and thresholds around it and be installed over a suitable base.
Once the existing bathroom is stripped out, we can assess what is actually beneath the old floor. Timber boards, chipboard, plywood, concrete or screed can each require a different approach before the final finish is installed.
Bathroom flooring work can include:
- Ceramic and porcelain floor tiles
- Click LVT where suitable for the room and product
- Glue-down LVT on a suitably prepared subfloor
- Vinyl flooring where appropriate
- Repairs to damaged or moving timber subfloors
- Suitable plywood or overlay preparation

Glue-down LVT and tiled floors are particularly dependent on good preparation. Movement or unevenness beneath the finished surface can affect the final result, so the floor below should be considered before the visible finish goes down.
Where underfloor heating is being installed, the heating system, adhesives, floor preparation and selected covering also need to be compatible with one another.

Potentially, yes, provided the selected LVT product is suitable for the room and installed using the appropriate method over a properly prepared subfloor. Click and glue-down systems have different installation requirements.
